குருவிக் கூடு – இரக்கத்தின் கதை
இரவு முழுவதும் பலத்த காற்று வீசியது. காலையில் தோட்டத்துக்குச் சென்ற கதிர், வேப்ப மரத்திலிருந்து ஒரு குருவிக் கூடு கீழே விழுந்திருப்பதைப் பார்த்தான். அதில் மூன்று குஞ்சுகள் “கீச் கீச்” என்று கத்தின.
மேலே கிளையில் தாய்க் குருவி பதறிப் பறந்தது. “நான் உதவ வேண்டும்,” என்று நினைத்த கதிர், ஓடிப்போய் அப்பாவை அழைத்து வந்தான்.
அப்பா ஏணி வைத்தார். கதிர் கவனமாகக் கூட்டை ஒரு கூடையில் வைத்தான். அப்பா அதை மரத்தின் உயரமான, உறுதியான கிளையில் கட்டினார்.
தாய்க் குருவி உடனே குஞ்சுகளிடம் திரும்பியது. சில வாரங்கள் கழித்து, குஞ்சுகள் பறக்கக் கற்றதும், தினமும் காலையில் கதிரின் ஜன்னலில் வந்து பாடின, நன்றி சொல்வது போல.

English Summary
After a stormy night, Kathir finds a fallen sparrow’s nest with three chirping chicks. He and his father place it in a basket and tie it to a strong, high branch. The mother bird returns, and later the young birds sing at Kathir’s window every morning.
